This exhibit presents both official and unofficial materials. The selection of official documents includes only those government documents which had a significant impact on the Cultural Revolution. Other official documents can be found in the issues of the Two Newspapers and One Magazine published during the Cultural Revolution. The unofficial documents presented here consist of big-character posters, and speeches that were influencial or reflective of the logic behind the mentality or rehtoric style of that time. The book "Heterodox Thoughts during the Cultural Revolution" by SONG, Yongyi and SUN, Dajin gives a comprehensive and outstanding overview of this special category of unofficial documents.
